Camp Snoops In Action
Ann and Ted Nettles, members of MD PGR and huge supporters of Camp Snoops, attended the Veterans Day Program at Lisbon Elementary School, where Ted spoke, and distributed our postcards.
They had a great turnout of Veterans and according to Ann, the children were “impressive and inspiring”.
Students wrote essays on “What Veteran’s Day Means To Me” and winners (one from each grade) received a $25 Barnes and Noble gift card from LCpl Matt Snyder Camp Snoops Project.

Mrs. Anita Brady, 1st grade Monocacy Elementary Center (Birdsboro, PA) school teacher with student Ayden Schiel and the Camp Snoops educational postcards.
Mrs. Brady implemented the cards in her classroom and school Principal Melanie Hefter requested them for the entire student body.
The school also hosted a Veterans Day ceremony for 100 veterans in the community to say thank you.

Nestor Escobar (California), Julie Francis (Matt’s Mom), David Tortora and Rich Weichman (New Jersey). These Marines knew and served with Matt in Iraq and traveled to be a part of the kickoff fundraiser!

Our mission continues to help veterans as we can; read to see how our donors help us to help our brave men & women.

As part of the Camp Snoops mission to help students learn about Memorial and Veterans Day, we support the Stars for our Troops organization. This Spring, Our Lady of Victory students in Cathy Menefee’s 2nd Grade Classroom helped to create star packs to be given to veterans as a ‘thank you’ for his or her service. A copy of the text that is in the packet with a star from retired American flags can be seen on this page

In addition to promoting Memorial and Veterans Day education in schools, the Camp Snoops Project is proud to support veterans when we can.
Thank you to the family of Cpl Clyde S.Shippe, USMC who was kind enough to donate a custom made motorized wheel chair and medical bed after Cpl Shippe passed away in the fall.
During numerous emails and conversations between Camp Snoops and friends of Matt’s mom, Julie, the DAV Chapter 13 found a worthy recipient for both items.
We are so happy to be able to advance our mission in LCpl Matt Snyder’s name! Both bed and wheelchair will have a metal plaque attached, courtesy of the DAV, which will remember Cpl Clyde Shippe and LCpl Matt Snyder to all who benefit from this equipment in the future.

On Saturday, September 20th, the LCpl Matt Snyder Camp Snoops Project kicked off its fundraising efforts with a Chili BBQ.
Thank you to our many sponsors, it was a great day, a life celebration, the continuation of a legacy in Matt’s name.
Thank you to the many friends, family and new friends that attended and made it a successful, beautiful day.
Camp Snoops was also able to present the Maryland Patriot Guard Riders a check for $250.00 to be used at Walter Reed through its Help on the Homefront mission which assists the veteran patients.
Ann and Ted Nettles of the PGR were on hand to celebrate the day and receive the check on behalf of the PGR.
Thank you to our COUNTLESS Family and Friends who contributed before, during and after our event.

Buffalo Wild Wings Spirit Night
On Tuesday, September 30th, Buffalo Wild Wings in Westminster sponsored a Spirit Night for The LCpl Matt Snyder Camp Snoops Project. A portion of the proceeds from food sales for the evening was donated to Camp Snoops to help the project continue the mission of Veterans Day/Memorial Day education in schools and to help veterans as needed. It was a packed crowd and a wonderful evening. Thank you, Buffalo Wild Wings!

On May 23, 2014, St. Mary Grade School in Schwenksville, PA held its eighth annual Memorial Day Remembrance. Inspired by Matt, his maternal family introduced the idea of Memorial Day education and honoring area veterans after Matt was killed in Iraq serving his fellow Marines. This event triggered similar programs at area schools and retirement communities. The LCpl. Matt Snyder Camp Snoops Project made a monetary donation to help produce this educational program and veteran luncheon which also includes coffee and donuts in the morning, prior to a Memorial Mass and flag raising. This event is hosted by the St. Mary Home and School Association.
The LCpl. Matt Snyder Camp Snoops Project helps to promote everyday gratitude to our veterans by putting together small packets which include stars cut from the blue of embroidered American flags and a note expressing appreciation and remembrance of service to our country. This project was continued at a local business, when a Camp Snoops volunteer was given a star. Now, as veterans come in to the vendor and it is discovered he or she served in our military, a star is presented with thanks. You can do this too. It is a great project to help educate students! www.starsforourtroops.org

On May 21, 2014, the Pope John Paul II High School in Royersford, PA held its third annual Memorial Day Remembrance. This event was started by Matt’s cousin, Catie Jane, who was involved in the original Memorial Day events at her grade school and introduced the idea to her high school. In addition to the Memorial Day Prayer Service, the school welcomed area veterans and also dedicated the newly installed American flagpole. The LCpl. Matt Snyder Camp Snoops Project donated the wreath, which was presented in memory of all those service men and women who have given their lives on the field of battle and veterans who have died.

On Saturday, September 20, 2014, the LCpl. Matt Snyder Camp Snoops Project will host its kickoff fundraiser with a Chili BBQ and Raffle. The event will be open to the public and tickets are $20.00 per person. The menu includes Chili, Pork and Beef BBQ, Baked Beans, Salad, Dessert, Rolls, Soda, Beer and Wine. Live Music, Cash Bar, Raffles and a Money Wheel, too! Proceeds will benefit the mission of the project in Matt’s name.
